i was a true blue dyed-in-the-wool starry-eyed believer until six months ago.

i've since been on a reading binge, everything my 'spiritual diet' never allowed before.

bible commentaries, 'apostate' books, occult, evolutionists, taoism, shamanism, philosophy and even my first trashy romance novel .

Awesome post. Welcome! That is also about the same time Hubby & I became awake thanks to a dear friend of ours. It's amazing isn't it, when you start to get an entire new mind-set and get the cult cobwebs out? We find ourselves being more tolerant of others even 'worldly' people and have made some really good friends.

Appealing a disfellowshipping - any experience

anyone had any experience of a successful appeal against a disfellowship?

a friend of mine feels he has been dfd unjustifiably & is considering an appeal.

he probably has something of a case - the jc was a total shambles - but i'm very dubious that he has any likelihood of success.. my only experience of a successful appeal is when elders in a neighbouring congregation were appointed by the co & overturned a df in our congregation a few years ago.

If it's for apostasy, I've never seen anyone come back from that.

But I do know of a pregnant young single sister that was DF'd then the same thing happened to my sister and they only publically reproved her, the other sister's dad pitched a fit and got his daughter's DF'ing reduced down to public reproof also.

What I use to get a kick out of, back when we were in the middle of the cong. we would do some intense research from the bible & WT and bring it up at a get-together or service group as a brain-teaser and all we would get was a blank stare or a "Oh you think too deep!" or a "Where did you get that?"

Ummmmm.....our own literature!

Personally, I believe that Christ was enthroned when he went back to heaven in 33/34 c.e. His general Michael the Archangel cleansed the heavens and the kingdom was established at that time, not 1914. Jesus is not an angel; Heb 1:13

Col 1:13 The apostle Paul is referring to the kingdom already being established.

By discrediting Russell and the past information, then it seems they can easily re-write their own history now and simply say "Well they were only a forerunner of the F&DS so what they printed wasn't accurate [old-light] , thus, they can DISARM all the 'apostates' since we LOVE to use their whackadoodle history against them.

They just may be trying to take the wind out of our sails.
